Club Holiday in Westport, April 2010

The Club holiday, based at Hotel Westport 11th-16th April, was enjoyed by a group of 41, with various walks being led by members. We had wonderful weather throughout and the drying room remained unused! After various attempts around Croagh Patrick on the first day, most of the group spent a day on Clare Island. A large contingent climbed Diamond Hill following a coach trip via the scenic route. On the final day, 19 members walked on the ancient pilgrim route from Ballintubber Abbey to Aughagower while others walked in the Nephin Beg mountains. As always, members displayed their talents in evening entertainments. The food (including packed lunches) and accommodation was excellent throughout, and some are asking for a return visit!

CHA Holiday: Grasmere 2009

Following the success of our holiday at Forest Side in September 2008, we decided to book the hotel once more for a week – 14th-21st June 2009. Around 35 of us enjoyed some great walking with much better weather than in 2008 (only one very wet day). Sadly, the meals did not equal the very high standard provided last year.

CHA Holiday, Grasmere, 4 - 11 September, 2008

Despite some very wet weather (and two sunny days), the holiday was a great success. The largest ever CHA holiday (52 of us, plus Mike and Judith who previously joined us in Wales and Switzerland in 2007) was based at Forest Side (formerly a CHA hostel) on the outskirts of Grasmere in the heart of the Lake District.

The accommodation was good and the food was plentiful and excellent. Members led walks locally and organised evening entertainment. Check Photo Gallery for some photos taken by Robert and Finian during the holiday. Full marks once again to Philip and Joyce!
