CHA, the Countrywide Hillwalkers Association, is one of the longest established walking club in Ireland. It was founded in 1922 and is Dublin based. Most of our walks take place in the Dublin and Wicklow mountains every Saturday. But CHA walks are by no means confined to this area. We also organise a number of walks throughout the year in many parts of the island of Ireland, from Co.Kerry, to Connemara, to the Mountains of Mourne, to the Knockmealdown Mountains.
Our Aims.
The aim of the Countrywide Hillwalkers Association is to bring together people who enjoy walking or hiking and discovering more about the countryside about us. This encourages healthy exercise in a pleasant social environment.
Walks Abroad
Outside Ireland, the Countrywide Hillwalkers Association regularly hill walk in Britain, including the Lake District, Scotland and Wales. CHA also arrange hiking holidays in Europe once every two years. In recent years we have visited Austria, France, Greece, Portugal, Switzerland and Slovenia.
