The instructions for importing a walk into Outdooractive differ as follows, depending on the platform you are using.
Importing via the mobile app
Walks can be imported via the mobile app as plans, using the .gpx file contained in the Zip file that has been downloaded from the CHA walks library. You should extract the .gpx file from the Zip file prior to importing into the Outdooractive app, and note its location after extraction.
- Select ‘My Page’ from the main menu (accessed via the three bars in the top left of the home screen).
- Select Plans to display your current saved plans.
- Press the ‘+’ sign in the top right of the screen to add a new plan, and select ‘import’ at the bottom of the screen.
- Select the .gpx file that has been extracted from the Zip file downloaded from the CHA walks library. The track is then imported into the app and can be saved as a plan. Note that this will not be published on saving, so will not be publicly accessible.
Importing via a web browser
Walks can be imported via a web browser as tracks or routes, using the Zip file that has been downloaded from the CHA walks library, as follows:
- After signing on to the Outdooractive website, select ‘My Page’ from the main menu (accessed via the three bars in the top left of the home screen).
- Select Tracks from the menu at the left of the page and press ‘Enter’.
- Click on ‘Import’ in the top right of the display of routes, plans or tracks.
- Press ‘Select File’ on the next acreen and select the Zip file that has been downloaded from the CHA walks library. Note that the Zip file itself should be selected here, not the .gpx file file contained within it – you do not need to unzip the downloaded file.
- Follow the instructions on the screen in order to import the walk as a track or as a route. **NB** You will have the choice during this process to publish or not publish the hike – choose ‘not publish’ in order to prevent it being publicly available.
